I'm having trouble navigating from blog spot to the articles and back to comment. This comment is for the article, Assassins of the Mind, by Hitchens.
This article represents very well how Pinker's proposed moral centers can be exploited by political/religious leaders. Hitchens does a good job of drawing some distinction between extremist, religiously politicized Muslims and those Muslims who are of a more intellectual and aesthetic persuasion. In particular, his comment, "It is also to make the patronizing assumption that the leaders of the mobs and the inciters of goons are the authentic representatives of Muslim opinion."
His comments about self-censorship of the publishing industry are interesting as well.
I do wonder though, does he want the US to bomb Iran??
