A far cry from the original intent of the Quaker penitent-iary: Are today's political prisons becoming little more than the dungeons of the 18th century?

Regardless of reservations about conventional war as a response to terrorism, I count this as a victory since I see no reason to dilute American power abroad by extending the special constitutional rights and privileges that Americans enjoy to the citizens of other countries who haven't earned them or developed their own codec inalienable. That's just one more example of enforcing our own culture upon others, while yet handing our enemies an undeserved platform for moral high-ground as if they were acceptable emigres to our own shores.

The real problem here is that in the 8 year absence of observing prisoner rights already guaranteed by Geneva Convention Articles, human rights advocates have been scrambling to find other instruments of protection for POWs. We need only reassert that physical torture is pointless (provides questionable info. at best) and reinstate Geneva Code: case solved.

Not necessarily Quaker inspired, yet inspired nonetheless?
